Woon Wine Dinner featuring Say When Wines & Wonderwerk

Woon presents our first ever Woon Wine Dinner featuring Say When Wines and Wonderwerk. This special evening will feature a Chinese Prix Fixe menu paired with wines from Say When and Wonderwerk, our neighbors and winemakers based in Los Angeles. The evening will start at 7:30 pm and feature dishes from Woon’s regular menu as well as special off-menu items. We will try our best to accommodate eating restrictions, but please note some courses will be served family-style and no substitutions will be possible. Seating is limited to 25. Ride share is highly encouraged, please drive responsibly!

Say When is a small winery run by husband and wife team, Michel and Rachel DeAscentiis. The wines are made from hand-harvested grapes in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County. They work with small family farms, most sustainable, organic or biodynamic and craft the wines themselves, with the help of friends and family. From there, each wine is given a unique name to reflect the personality within the bottle.

Featured Wines:
2018 Weird Parties, Skin Contact Grenache Blanc
Skin Contact (aka Orange) Grenache Blanc from Sarloos & Son’s El Camino Real Vineyard in Los Olivos. Fun but different, just like a weird party. Salty, light lemon, wet limestone, and subtle funkiness.

2017 RASI, Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir from Rancho La Viña, aged 10 months in neutral French Oak barrels. The wine has an unmistakable aroma of wild blackberries. The warm, velvet black fruit is layered with both baking and savory spices.

Wonderwerk is Issamu Kamide and Andrew Lardy, two high school friends seeking new directions in fermentation. They live in LA and make wines from all over California. They produce and bottle with their own hands and feet at Stirm Wine Co. in Watsonville, CA alongside an inspiring collective of young, talented winemakers. Their labels are designed by their talented friends Anton Goddard and Lana Shahmoradian.

Featured Wines:
Discovino Donna Rosé, 50% Sangiovese 50% Syrah

Corsican-inspired rosé from Paso Robles, CA. A perfumed, melon and strawberry-inflected quencher landing somewhere between the beach and the discothequé.

Above & Below 2018, 33% Carignan 33% Mataro 33% Zinfandel
Consumable California heritage. 120-140 year old vines grown in 40 feet of pure sand. We are honored to share this multigenerational story - As Above, So Below.
